course, Introduction to ArcGIS (for ArcView
9, ArcEditor 9, and ArcInfo 9). The student
will learn basic GIS concepts, and the technical
skills to create, edit, query, georeference,
and map spatial data using these three core
ArcGIS products. The course incorporates a combination
of lectures, hands-on exercises, and discussion.
The course will be taught by an ESRI certified
instructor.

Migrating
from ArcView 3.x to ArcView 9.

Applied GIS is pleased to offer a new two-day
course, Migrating from ArcView 3.x to ArcView
9. This hands-on class introduces current ArcView
3.x users to the ArcGIS interface. Throughout
the course terminology and functionality of
the two products will be compared. Students
will learn how to display, georeference, and
edit data, as well as query features and develop
maps in ArcView 9. The course will be taught
by an ESRI certified instructor.

Introduction
to ArcView 3.x.

A two day, hands-on introduction to ArcView
GIS. The course is designed to provide a thorough
understanding of ArcView, and teach effective
methods for its use as a geographic analysis
tool. Each student is provided an ESRI Introduction
to ArcView GIS manual. The course is taught
by an authorized ESRI trainer. Topics to be
covered include: ArcView Basics, Theme Display,
Creating Views, Selections and Queries, Thematic
Mapping, Managing Tables, Creating Layouts,
Editing Shapefiles, Geocoding, and Geographic
Analysis.

ArcView 3.x.

A two day hands-on course designed for experienced
ArcView users. Learn advanced techniques for
working with spatial and tabular databases,
and creating reports and layouts. Use Avenue
and sample scripts and extensions to expand
the capability of ArcView 3.x.

Introduction
to ArcExplorer.

A half-day, hands-on introduction to ArcExplorer
GIS. This course is designed to acquaint students
with the ArcExplorer interface, and teach its
basic functionality. Learn how to use projects,
change display characteristics of data layers,
create thematic maps, select and query features,
measure distances, and customize menu and button
bars. Each student is provided an ESRI "Using
ArcExplorer" Manual, ArcExplorer software, as
well as sample exercises and data.

Jump Start (Management Level Introduction to
GIS Technology).

This 1-day course is designed for managers and
other individuals requiring a quick and thorough
introduction to the fundamentals of geographic
information systems (GIS), and how this technology
is being used in New York State. The class will
not include instructions on the technical operation
of GIS software, although students will have
opportunities to use GIS software as a means
of underscoring certain topics and concepts.

Introduction
to Parcel Editor.

A course designed to introduce users to Parcel
Editor software from NovaLIS Technologies. Courses
are scheduled on an individual basis, and are
conducted either on-site at the client's location,
or in our Schenectady office.
